2014 Honda Fit Hybrid to be Released Overseas Only, Technology Coming to U.S. Soon
The eco-friendly Honda arsenal is a pretty impressive one to behold. With on-sale hybrid models such as the Civic Hybrid, Accord Plug-In Hybrid, and the Fit EV, and the limited release H2 auto, the FCX Clarity, it’s clear this is an automaker that is committed to green initiatives. Now, the Japanese automaker is furthering that obligation by adding another hybrid model to its artillery: the Fit Hybrid.
We’ll get the bad news out of the way first: this model isn’t going to be released stateside. In spite of the electric success of the Fit EV in the U.S., Honda thinks that the technology used to power the Fit Hybrid would be better used on a sedan or perhaps, even a crossover. That’s good news, at least.
It’s also possible, we speculate, that we might see some of the nifty design accents of the Fit Hybrid in some of the next-generation’s models. The new Fit comes with an updated grille and wheel design. There’s a slightly more aggressive quality to this new iteration, as if to say, “I may be cute and fun, but I still mean business!”
We’ll see, though. We haven’t gotten any news on the U.S. version just yet, but we’re slated to see it hitting our Troy, NY dealership in the third quarter of next year.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of time to check out the current Fit, and EV variant right here at Rensselaer Honda. Swing on down to our showroom in Troy, which also proudly serves the locales of Albany, Latham, and Schenectady, NY as well. With the diversity of the Honda hybrid lineup, we’re sure you’ll find one that fits your needs. Let us know and we’ll take you out for a test drive.
