Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid Specs & Everything Else There Is To Know
There are three types of Honda Clarity’s such as the Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid, Which runs on gas and electric. The Clarity Electric which runs on electric only and the Clarity Fuel Cell which runs only on fuel cells. In this article we are going to discuss the Plug-In Hybrid version since it is the most common version offered in the upstate New York area where we are located.
Honda Plug-In Electric Hybrid
The Plug-In Hybrid version is able to hold enough charge for day to day driving without relying on gas. Although for those long trips you will have the gas powered engine to rely on. There are three different driving modes that are offered with the Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. Such as Hybrid drive, Engine Drive and EV Drive,
Hybrid Drive: In this mode power to the wheels are supplied from the electric traction motor. The gasoline engine and generator motor produce electricity directly to the traction motor or the battery pack. In this mode the vehicle can reach up to 340 miles before refueling and recharging is necessary.
Engine Mode: In engine mode the gasoline engine sends power directly to the front wheels. *In this mode the vehicle can get up to 44 mpg city, 40 mpg highway and 42 mpg combined.
EV Mode: The vehicle is propelled from the 181 HP traction motor which draws power from the Lithium Ion Battery. *The vehicle can go up to 47 miles in this mode alone before recharging is necessary.
