Honda Fit & Insight are KBB Top Green Cars

October 13th, 2010 by

Honda has received many accolades in the past, but in today’s world nothing shines brighter than being named the Best Green Car to hit dealership lots and customer driveways.

Honda did this twice. The officials at KBB.com have named both the small Honda Fit and hybrid Honda Insight best on a list of Kelley Blue Book Top 10 Green Cars for 2010.

The Insight was commended by KBB for combining great features, value and performance at the gas pump. A well-equipped Insight starts at only $19,800, and can achieve 40 mpg city/43 mpg highway/41 mpg combined.

Drivers are also assisted thanks to the Honda Eco Assist – this system offers a two-pronged approach to increased fuel savings: Drivers can engage the Insight’s ECON button, which adjusts the car’s functions to prioritize fuel economy. Eco Assist also includes a built-in feedback mechanism that can help teach owners to drive more efficiently.

Insight’s room for 5, or the option to fold down rear seating to more storage, as well as a premium six-speaker sound system, voice-recognition nav system, automatic climate control, dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags and paddle shifters-and still keep the MSRP around $23,100.

Honda’s Fit includes a dynamic i-VTEC engine and sporty suspension, along with boasting an EPA rating of 28 mpg city/35 mpg highway/31 mpg combined. The team at Kelley Blue Book noted that it was a “fun, functional and interesting” choice for the Green Cars list.

Fit may be small but it’s also functional: The rear seats fold down to allow for 57.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
