Tom Gorman Memorial Golf Outing
Rensselaer Honda of Troy, New York, hosts an Annual Memorial Charity Golf Outing to benefit the American Cancer Society. This impactful event was inspired by the loss of our valuable friend and employee, Tom Gorman, to pancreatic cancer on September 12, 2002.
Tom worked here at Rensselaer Honda for 10 years, as a leading Sales Professional. His character was such that he was considered family to all who met him, and his passing left behind a wife and two sons.
This charity golf tournament is held in Tom’s honor, with the hope that our donation will benefit all people fighting all types of cancer. All of the proceeds from the Tom Gorman Memorial Golf Outing go directly to the American Cancer Society. So far, our lifetime contribution toward cancer research is over $253,000!
Location and Details
The event takes place every year at the Fairways of Halfmoon, located at 17 Johnson Road, Mechanicville, New York. The venue can be reached at 518-664-1578. The overall golf format is a scramble, with four-person teams. Every year lunch is provided to all golfers. Prizes and giveaways are also given to golfers who win the putting contest, longest drive, straightest drive, and/or closest to the pin. Even better, our Hole-in-One competition will offer a lucky winner the chance at a 2-year lease on a brand-new Honda!
Once the golfing has concluded, there is an excellent Italian buffet and awards ceremony. Additionally, every year there is a number of thrilling auctions, raffles, and prizes! Golfing isn’t required to have fun at the dinner event!
There are a large number of local and regional businesses that participate in the event, either through golfing, sponsorship, or donating prizes and auction items. We encourage and welcome all businesses that wish to participate and further enhance our ability to contribute to the mission of the American Cancer Society.
We look forward to seeing you at the next event and know that all involved will have a wonderful time doing something worthwhile for those in the community and beyond. If you have any questions regarding this event please call us at 518-279-1171 or email us at [email protected]
